Yard Operations Supervisor

The Opportunity:

The overall purpose of the Yard Operations Supervisor is to manage and oversee the site operation ensuring all work is carried out following correct policies and procedures.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Monitor the organisation of the yard, flow of vehicles and housekeeping on site
  • Ensure the landing pad is clear and that vehicles are processed in date order as they arrive on site
  • Manage the FLT drivers to make sure that the imaging bays are always kept full
  • Ensure KPI’s and SLA’s are adhered to and liaise with Operations manager on a daily basis for updates
  • Perform toolbox talks as and when required
  • Image and process vehicles
  • Ensure the UTA is managed daily and that all colleagues are conversant with procedures
  • Ensure vehicles being returned are brought out in readiness for drivers
  • Ensure the loading and unloading of transporters and the moving of vehicles between locations are carried out in accordance with health and safety standards
  • Ensure all colleagues complete their tasks to the appropriate standard within the required timescale
  • Adhere to Health & Safety and company guidelines, and to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
  • Supervise yard operatives daily and ensuring all employees have the correct safety equipment and tools are in good working order to enable them to perform their roles efficiently and effectively
  • Complete incident and accident reports and liaise with the operations manager
  • To ensure all personal protective equipment is available and worn at all times
  • Carry out weekly site checks and update site diary to ensure we are compliant and working within the EA guidelines
  • Must be available to work additional hours when the need arises

Here’s what you bring:

  • Ability to lead a team and maximise performance
  • Full Driving License
  • Good knowledge of health and safety regulation
  • Forklift truck license – rough terrain
  • Basic literacy and numeracy
  • Mechanical, Metal Recycling or vehicle maintenance qualification (advantageous)
