Electrical Production Technician

For over three decades, our client has been a leader in cryogenic technology, providing compact cryocoolers that drive scientific breakthroughs in fields ranging from pharmaceuticals to radio astronomy. The team is expanding, and they are looking to add multiple technicians to the team.

Purpose: Join our successful production team to assemble and test various electro-mechanical products. Your role is crucial in supporting sales and profit targets, providing high-quality, timely, cost-effective, and resource-efficient services.

Main Responsibilities:

- Assemble complex mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies.
- Perform electrical wiring and soldering to the latest standards, especially for small sensors and gauge wires.
- Handle and occasionally modify/add components (e.g., resistors) to PCBs.
- Conduct pressure tests, vacuum tests, and leak checks, addressing and correcting issues as needed.
- Run bench tests and commissioning via PC-based software, troubleshoot and take corrective actions when required.
- Read and utilize engineering drawings, build procedures, and standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area following 5S principles.
- Set and achieve individual objectives and targets contributing to the overall success of the business.
- Conduct quality checks during production to uphold company quality metrics.
- Stay informed about the latest developments in scientific instrumentation, especially cryogenics, and share knowledge within the team.
- Contribute to the Operations department's objectives by identifying opportunities for improvements and growth.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities for departmental processes and procedures.
- Support colleagues through knowledge transfer and best practices.
- Efficiently utilise financial and physical resources, maximizing resource use and eliminating waste.
- Contribute to the development and adherence of systems, policies, procedures, and work standards.
- Complete tasks in accordance with technical, quality, and delivery requirements, company procedures, policies, and health and safety standards.

Desirable Qualifications and Training:

  • GCSE in maths and English, ideally A-Levels.
  • Apprenticeships, BTEC I/II, HNC, or HND are beneficial.
  • Formal qualifications are not mandatory if relevant work experience can be demonstrated.

Software Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of SAGE or similar integrated MRP systems is desirable; training will be provided.

  • Happy to support R&D during the development and initial build phase of new product development.
