Technical Quality Engineer

 

Purpose of the Job:

To provide support to the Project Managers for V5X and V6X AWE work-streams.

Scope of the Job:

Responsible for all technical and quality aspects related to systems, documentation, and product quality for AWE work-streams.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure complete understanding and implementation of AWE's quality requirements in all Project Management, manufacturing (internal and external), and reporting activities, including documentation packages.
  • Provide technical support for both V5X and V6X projects.
  • Collaborate closely and coordinate efforts to support AWE Project Managers.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the quality requirements associated with the Client and the Project.
  • Regularly travel to existing and potential subcontractors to ensure adherence to QA documentation and SOPs.
  • Prepare and compile documents for the final documentation package, including the creation of dispatch paperwork such as bills of lading, and arrange the physical process of dispatch (counting, packing, transportation, etc.).
  • Support the Document Controller with the transmittal and receipt of documentation.
  • Liaise with all relevant internal departments to ensure both in-house and subcontracted manufacture maintains the required quality and processes.
  • Work with Technical Teams to resolve technical issues through appropriate channels.
  • Issue concessions, deviations, and NCRs as necessary.
  • Arrange and support third-party/customer inspection visits and attend internal inspection points.
  • Handle internal and external reporting.
  • Lead internal and subcontractor audits as advised by the Quality Department.
  • Participate in both internal and external project meetings.
  • Read, understand, and interpret technical engineering drawings with technical and shop floor staff.
  • Ensure project compliance with internal SFIL Quality requirements.
  • Understand the manufacturing and documentation requirements associated with in-house and subcontract manufacture.
  • Conduct internal and subcontractor audits as needed.
  • Support technical witness points in line with ITPs.
  • Coordinate, review, and collate manufacturing records.
  • Provide a monthly update on QA activities.
  • Manage the supply chain (expedite orders, handle technical queries, monitor deliveries, etc.).
  • Attend training courses as necessary.
  • Be open to knowledge transfer when appropriate.

Person Specification:

Specific qualifications required for the role:

Essential:

  • Qualified to Degree level or with significant relevant experience.

Desirable:

  • Metallurgical (casting and forging) experience/qualifications
  • Quality auditing experience/qualified lead auditor qualifications, Have or be able to obtain a minimum of Baseline Security Clearance.

Skills, Attributes & Knowledge Required:

Essential: Literate and numerate, a solid understanding and appreciation of the principles underpinning Quality Management Systems, able to read, understand, and interpret technical engineering drawings, able to understand technical and manufacturing terminology and converse with all levels from shop floor to senior management.

Desirable: Metallurgical knowledge of both forging and casting practices, experience/understanding of gas and electrical systems, demonstrated ability and experience of performing audits, familiarity and competence with MS Office, experience working within a complex Project environment with exposure to and interaction with clients, able and willing to travel, have an understanding of pressure and electrical systems.

Essential: Good organizational skills, excellent proven interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate at all levels, attention to detail, able to demonstrate the ability to work independently and proactively when required while ensuring Project team members are kept informed.
