Permit Authoriser - Engineering Company

The Role: 

As a Permit Authoriser, you will play a crucial role within the Site Services Department. You will be the central figure in the day-to-day management of the permit system, responsible for authorising all work requiring a permit to work. Your primary objective will be to ensure the safe control of work activities, aligning with company policies and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement the Permit to Work procedure for all staff and contractors within your area of responsibility.
  • Manage isolations and coordinate work activities daily.
  • Act as a liaison between work organisers, site contacts, engineering managers, and production and project managers to ensure safe execution of work with minimal impact on our production operation.
  • Plan and schedule permitted work in advance, responding efficiently to emergent work, dynamic worksite/task changes, and breakdowns to maintain safe control over all simultaneous permitted work activities.

Requirements:

  • Valid Permit to Work training and knowledge/experience.
  • Proficiency in developing information systems, including spreadsheet usage.
  • In-depth knowledge of Health and Safety in the workplace and a track record of supporting H&S improvements.
  • Extensive understanding of the heavy engineering industry, preferably with experience in the Steel Industry.

Working Hours:

  • South Machine Shop: Monday – Friday 07:45 – 16:00
  • Work Rolls: Monday – Friday 07:45 – 16:15
  • Site Services: Monday – Friday 06:00 – 14:15
  • Projects: Monday – Friday flexible hours
