Service & Installation Engineer - Ex Military Welcome
Our Client is a renowned company with a strong market presence and a prestigious portfolio of 'Blue-Chip' customers. Who specialize in Industrial Food Technology (IFT) and cater to industrial clients globally. Their products are also widely used in research and educational institutions worldwide. As the demand for our high-quality equipment continues to grow, they are seeking talented individuals to support valued customers through installation, training, commissioning, and after-sales maintenance services.
The Role: As Technical Support Engineer – IFT Service/Support Personnel, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our equipment in diverse customer locations. Reporting to the Customer Support Manager, you will initially be based at our Ringwood office, where you will acquire in-depth knowledge of the product catalogue, from the design phase to testing and onsite installation. With a focus on industrial food technology and related sectors, your responsibilities will include:
- Onsite Attendance: Providing installation, training, and commissioning services for new equipment at customer sites.
- After-Sales Support: Offering maintenance and breakdown services of equipment, supporting household brand names globally.
- Fault Diagnosis: Demonstrating an aptitude for fault investigation and diagnosis at the basic PCB level, ensuring efficient problem resolution.
- Mechanical Assembly: Utilizing basic mechanical assembly skills for new installations and routine service work.
- Spare Parts Management: Investigating and identifying spares, ensuring their correct dispatch, and preparing visit reports for issue resolution and product improvement.
- Collaboration: Working independently or as part of a small team, collaborating with internal departments for timely supply of required items and effective remedial activities.
- Customer Interaction: Providing technical advice and onsite training services to customers as you become familiar with our product catalogue.
- Remote Work & Travel: Adopting a flexible approach to remote work and travel outside of normal UK office hours due to our global customer base. Occasional overseas travel may be required, with travel commitments sometimes exceeding 14 days in exceptional circumstances.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Electronics & Engineering Skills: Proficiency in sensor signal conditioning, PLC, and touchscreen operation. Knowledge of basic PLC programming will be advantageous.
- Technical Troubleshooting: An inherent ability to investigate and diagnose faults at the basic PCB level.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulousness in identifying spares and ensuring their correct dispatch.
- Initiative & Self-Organization: Demonstrated ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
- IT Literacy: Proficiency in using CRM software (experience with Windows Business Central 'BC' is a plus, but training will be provided).
- Customer Focus: A confident and customer-facing personality, capable of providing excellent technical advice and onsite training.
- Travel & Documentation: Availability for overseas travel, and consideration for travel vaccinations (e.g., Yellow Fever) required for entering foreign countries.
Additional Considerations: In addition to the skills above, candidates with the following attributes will receive special consideration:
- British Passport or Indefinite Leave to Remain: Ability to hold a British passport or indefinite leave to remain in the UK.
- Full, Clean Driving License: Possession of a valid driving license.
