Site / Production Manager
Our client is looking to recruit an experienced Site / Production Manager based in the Scunthorpe area on a permanent contract.
The details of the role are listed below:
Safety
- Work closely with the Group HSQE manager to ensure all Risk Assessments, Safe Methods of Work, processes, and procedures are in place, maintained and adhered to across site. Actively promote health and safety in the workplace, leading by example and ensuring the H&S of all on site is always maintained.
- Be the responsible person for H&S at times when the Group HSQE Manager is off-site. Ensure site security is always maintained, including locking and unlocking of the site.
- Ensuring any contractors working on site have the required RAMS to do so.
- Ensure any new starters/visitors have received a site induction as required.
- Work closely with the Facilities Engineer to ensure all equipment and machinery is correctly maintained in safe working order.
Quality:
Work closely with key stakeholders such as HSQE Manager and Quality Control to ensure:
- All products conform to the highest quality standards with any failures investigated to root cause.
- All products meet Type Approval and CoC standards.
- ISO 9001 standards are maintained with regular reviews of the QMS undertaken by process owners.
- Regular quality reviews take place on completed products to interrogate workmanship and standards.
- Work with all areas of the business to embed a culture of continuous improvement.
- Ensure the inventory management system (RTDMS) is correctly utilised and kept updated to ensure data accuracy.
Delivery
- Delight our customers with on-time delivery, ensuring communication is maintained, keeping Weightlifters reputation at the top of the marketplace.
- Work with sales to ensure specification of orders is clear and progress is communicated regularly.
- Ensure the site has a robust production plan in place.
- Work with Production Supervisors to ensure the successful execution of the site production plan, investigating failure and rewarding success as required.
- Work with all support functions to ensure production has the correct tooling, materials, labour and environment to reliably meet expectations.
- Continually identify opportunities to eliminate waste from the production process using a range of LEAN methodologies.
Cost
- Ensure the full utilisation of business systems across site (primarily RTDMS) to capture a range of data with a view to interrogating the opportunities for development and growth.
- Ensure all products are delivered on time, in full, ensuring budgeted costs are controlled.
- Regularly report on targets and KPI’s.
- Identify opportunities to increase business profits and create a case for board approval.
People
- Promote a positive culture across the site, maintaining and lifting morale.
- Maintain a cohesive team across multiple departments to ensure all business requirements are achieved.
- Ensure the business has a GAP analysis and Training plan in place for each department with a method of execution for any ongoing activities.
- Responsible for approx. 46 staff across 5 departments.
- Chair works committee meetings with staff to ensure issues are raised and recorded in a formal manner and communication is clear.
- Carry out regular reviews with direct reports, identifying gaps in competence and filling with training.
- Manage all aspects of performance with staff in area of responsibility.
- Recruit various roles into the business in-line with growth plan and budgeted headcount as required.
Additional Duties
- The main site contact for all areas of operational function on site Promote a positive culture throughout the business.
- Train, develop and guide team members.
- Able and prepared to visit customer/supplier premises as required by the business.
- Willing to travel between company sites if required.
Experience
- A successful Site/Depot Manager with a proven track record of managing a diverse team in a target lead, manufacturing environment.
- Background in managing Type approval, ISO9001 and CoP is highly desirable.
- Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment is critical.
- Knowledge of MIG and TIG welding is desirable.
- Experience with multi-departmental budget management is required.
Qualifications
- Formal Leadership and Management training highly desirable (e.g. CMI Level6). However, relevant experience will be considered.
- Formal H&S qualification (minimum IOSH Managing safely) – NEBOSH preferred.
