CNC Operator

Job Title: CNC Operator
Location: Darwen
Job Type: Permanent, 37 hours per week, working a 4-day week over a 5-day operational week

We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated CNC Operator to join a well-established manufacturing business based in Darwen. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a precision-driven environment where quality and operational efficiency are key.

Job Overview:

As a CNC Operator, you will be responsible for ensuring that workflow within the CNC department runs smoothly and that components are moved efficiently through to the next production stage. You’ll play a crucial role in supporting production demands and maintaining the highest standards of workmanship.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the manager to review and understand the CNC production schedule.

  • Perform CNC tasks as delegated by the Team Leader and/or Senior Management.

  • Maintain a high standard of performance and accuracy within the CNC team.

  • Participate in relevant training and development activities.

  • Report operational updates and issues to the Team Leader and Senior Management.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives such as lean practices, Kaizen events, and tooling enhancements.

  • Help identify and escalate issues that impact production or safety.

  • Support health and safety protocols and promote a safe working environment.

  • Assist the Team Leader with daily duties and provide cover during absences.

  • Ensure effective communication with team leaders and management to maintain production targets.


Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 3 in CNC or equivalent qualification.

  • Time-served machinist with experience in loading, setting, and operating large CNC machines.

  • Strong working knowledge of CNC machines and machining processes in a manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to work well as part of a team while using initiative and making autonomous decisions.
