Facilities Maintenance Electrician

About the Role:

We are currently looking for a diligent, detail-oriented Facilities Maintenance Electrician to join our clients team at our advanced manufacturing facility in Darwen. The role focuses on maintaining safe and efficient electrical systems, providing reactive repairs, and ensuring plant and equipment uptime across a busy production environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled electrician who enjoys a varied role, working both independently and as part of a supportive team to help keep operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all maintenance tasks are completed in line with Health & Safety policies and safe working practices.

  • Deliver planned and reactive maintenance services across the facility, minimising downtime and maximising productivity.

  • Maintain accurate documentation for all work carried out, including permits, risk assessments, service logs and maintenance records.

  • Liaise with and support external contractors, ensuring their work aligns with safety and operational standards.

  • Support environmental improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities for energy and waste reduction.

  • Provide unsupervised electrical and mechanical fault finding, repairs, testing, installation and commissioning.

  • Carry out Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) across a range of plant, equipment and building services.

  • Follow all site policies, procedures, and applicable legislation including Health & Safety regulations and workplace best practices.

  • Maintain open communication with managers and participate in performance reviews, goal setting and regular team meetings.

What We’re Looking For:

  • HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)

  • NVQ Level 3 in a Mechanical or Electrical discipline (or equivalent)

  • City & Guilds / BTEC qualification (or equivalent)

  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification

  • Proven experience in facilities maintenance within a manufacturing or engineering environment

  • Basic plumbing knowledge and experience

  • Understanding of contractor management, energy efficiency, and lean continuous improvement (CI)

  • Confident working independently, with a hands-on and solution-focused approach

  • Full, clean UK driving licence

  • Computer literate with working knowledge of MS Office
