Service Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Service and Repair:

    • Perform meticulous service and repairs of instrumentation at our site.
    • Manage stock levels and provide detailed reporting of work performed, from initial inspection to commissioning.
    • Conduct procedures such as re-wiring/soldering of temperature sensors, replacement of precision seals, and identification of vacuum/pressurized gas leaks.
  • On-Site Visits:

    • Estimated 30% travel, around the UK with occasional International Travel.
    • Conduct installations, service, maintenance, and commissioning of cooling instrumentation at customer laboratory sites in the UK and worldwide.
  • Technical Support:

    • Provide comprehensive technical support and perform remote diagnosis for our global customer base through email, phone, video, and PC remote access.
    • Prepare customer-facing service documentation and technical notes.
  • Customer Training:

    • Be the company's ambassador, providing customer training on instrumentation.
    • Train partner service engineers on equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • A degree or qualification in mechanical/electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in servicing equipment
  • Strong hands-on technical skills, including fine soldering, electrical wiring, and high-precision mechanical assembly.
  • Experience with vacuum, high pressure highly desirable.
  • Excellent customer focus, with the ability to respond reliably to inquiries and effectively communicate with customers.
  • Commercially astute with an appreciation for general service process management, including stock level and toolkit/repair station management.
  • Demonstrate an agile and logical mindset with a strong ability to think on your feet and problem-solve.
