About Us: Our Client is government spin-out company specialising in developing detection equipment and protection technologies to counter hostile use. We are expanding our product portfolio and seek a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to play a key role in our Research and Development team.

Key Details:

  • Role: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
  • Sector: Defence & Security
  • Terms: Full-time, 37 hours per week, flexible working
  • Location: Hybrid working in Hampshire and Wiltshire offices

About the Role: As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be instrumental in the Research and Development space. Your responsibilities include:

  • Research and development of new and existing designs.
  • Collaboration with the Head of Design to execute the product roadmap.
  • Maintenance and quality control of product design for existing products.

Ideal Candidate: We are seeking candidates with a military background,

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Deep knowledge of product design and hands-on experience with prototypes.
  • Experience in building and optimising jigs, fixtures, and automated build processes.
  • Understanding of commercial and manufacturing aspects of mechanical components.

Responsibilities: Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing products in line with the CTO’s product roadmap.
  • Designing, building, and manufacturing innovative products.
  • Managing precision engineering companies.
  • Transitioning R&D products into manufacturing.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • MS/BS degree in Engineering or relevant industry experience.
  • Significant Solidworks experience 
  • 5+ years industry experience in mechanical design.
  • Experience in design for manufacture.
  • Ability to obtain and hold UK SC Clearance.
