Production Manager

JOB PURPOSE
To lead, motivate and develop a team of people, to contribute to output efficiencies whilst maintaining product quality in a safe working environment through technical guidance, using planning and teamwork.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Essential

  • Good level of education
  • Previous experience in a management or supervisory role
  • Sound knowledge of the whole production process
  • Good knowledge and understanding of current Health & Safety legislation and branch regulations
  • Full understanding of branch Risk Assessments
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines whilst maintaining quality of end product
  • Ability to work as part of a team to achieve required results
  • Ability to work from detailed technical drawings
  • Ability to interpret company documents
  • Demonstrates a flexible and positive attitude
  • Promotes a flexible approach
  • Ability to organise workload

Desirable

  • First Aid qualification
  • Previous experience in similar industry
  • A sound knowledge of the whole production process

KEY RESULT AREAS

  • Plan and organise customer orders, ensuring maximum use of machinery and all other resources
  • Lead, manage and motivate team members to deliver high levels of performance, developing individuals to achieve a multi-skilled team
  • Liaise with Site Operations Manager to ensure Production staff are actively employed in appropriate tasks to ensure maximum output
  • Ensure a safe and efficient operation, taking into account customers’ requirements and performance targets
  • Act as ‘stand in’ Side loader driver / Operative / as required to maintain output requirements
  • Monitor Production machinery for service & repair requirements
  • Assist in control of Truss plant and site security, as a key holder, to prevent company losses
  • Act as Technical advisor regarding all Production processes as and when required
  • Stand in for the Site Operations Manager during holidays and absence
  • Continuously look for ways to improve productivity, sharing best practice and learning from other sites
  • Any other tasks as directed by the Site Operations Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the site and to achieve maximum efficiency and customer satisfaction
  • Assist with the company stock takes when required
  • Induct new starters within the Operations team

  • All internal decisions All internal decisions regarding quality, throughout, machines and usage.
  • Any other decisions in the absence of the Site Operations Manager.
  • Health & Safety in line with Company policy.
